The Niskanen Center is a nonprofit public policy organization dedicated to strengthening liberal democratic governance and promoting widespread prosperity and opportunity. Our vision of market liberalism is rooted in an effective public sector and a competitive private sector and is committed to upholding the principles of a pluralistic and open society that encourages engagement, cooperation, discussion, and learning.
The Niskanen Center Internship Program is dedicated to preparing undergraduate and graduate students for careers in public policy, communications, and federal affairs.
Policy interns work with Niskanen Center scholars in researching and writing policy papers, website commentary, and op-eds. Candidates must be well-versed in their chosen policy area. Opportunities are available in climate, criminal justice, immigration, family economic security, housing, employment policy, and healthcare policy.
Digital media interns will work closely with the communications team. Interns will assist in updating the website, tracking media hits, managing social media accounts, producing graphics, and editing videos, depending on experience. Strong research and writing skills are required, and a degree in English, Public Relations, Journalism, Communications, and/or Marketing is a plus.
Legal interns will work closely with the Niskanen Center legal team. This internship opportunity is dedicated to preparing rising 2L and 3L law students for careers in nonprofit and public interest litigation, primarily centered on siting and permitting issues of proposed interstate energy infrastructure projects.
