Association of Public & Land-Grant Universities is a membership organization that fosters a community of university leaders collectively working to advance the mission of public research universities. The association’s membership consists of nearly 250 public research universities, land-grant institutions, state university systems, and affiliated organizations spanning across all 50 states, the District of Columbia, six U.S. territories, Canada, and Mexico.

Qualifications

  • Master’s degree in related field or equivalent work experience.
  • A minimum of two to three years of data analysis experience, preferably working with higher education datasets. Work experience at a college/university, a higher education organization, or a non-profit organization preferred.
  • Experience using and creating dashboards with data visualization software such as Microsoft Power BI.
  • Experience developing and administering surveys via survey software (e.g., Qualtrics, Survey Monkey).
  • Experience and comfort working with data, spreadsheets statistical software (e.g., R, Python, or SAS).
  • Familiarity with higher education datasets (e.g., IPEDS, NSF HERDS, College Scorecard, etc.).
  • Significant experience and skills in the use of Microsoft Excel, Word, and other Office365 products.
  • Experience implementing complex, multi-faceted projects of varying scope and duration. Excellent time management and organizational skills are required.
  • Ability to work in a dynamic environment with a diverse, cross-functional team as well as an ability to carry out tasks independently. Ability to establish effective working relationships with employees at all levels of the organization.
  • Excellent interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills.
  • Keen attention to detail.
  • Desire to continuously grow and learn.
  • Commitment to the work of APLU and the DPA Department.
  • Ability to travel domestically as needed.

Additional Information

The Data Analyst position is ideal for a person with technical skills and experience in transforming data into actionable information for different constituent groups. The incumbent manages and combines multiple higher education-related datasets to create analytic data files and dashboards using R and Power BI. They perform standard analyses, prepare and present user-friendly results and dashboards, and curate resources and training in support of promoting and maintaining a data-sharing culture within APLU and its members.

This full-time position is based in Washington, DC. The incumbent must reside in DC, MD, or VA and pass standard background checks.

The Data Analyst is eligible for a hybrid work schedule.
